The Nachrichtentruppe was not just a simple troop unit of the german Wehrmacht. This unit consisted of a large number from "little wheels", which worked perfectly together to ensure the best possible transmission of messages.
Radio operators on their transmitters and receivers, drivers of the big signal-trucks, signal units for line construction and switchboards, flight attendants, signal-detectors, dog handlers, etc.. These whole "little wheels" were very well organized. The structure of the Nachrichtentruppe staggered right into the other units. From the switchboard-officer of the general, to the radio operator in the infantry- and artillery units on the front line: Scarcely a group of Wehrmacht soldiers had such a wide range of tasks.
